It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas!!

This past weekend was packed full of Christmas preparations.  We did most of our indoor decorating over the Thanksgiving break, but saved the outdoor lights and the all important Christmas tree for this weekend. We found a great cut-your-own farm close to our house and off we went...

Zoe and Darryl searching for the perfect tree.

"How about one of these, Mom?"

A quick visit with Santa (Madelyn is too interested in Mrs. Claus to look at the camera!)

Zoe's ornaments all in a line- can you tell how tall she is?!

Two more of our traditions- The Elf on the Shelf and the Gumdrop Tree ( Thanks Betty!)

There is always the great debate- live tree or artificial.  Having grown up with live trees (and luckily Darryl did too)  we have always gone this route.  A little more work, a little messier, yes- but totally worth it when you smell the fresh pine in your house.  Well, what happened next may forever change my mind about getting a real tree...to be continued.

  1. Like the Elf on shelf. we have it too, I think next year it will be a little more "useful" for Olivia. Beautiful REAL Tree.

  2. Zoe looks so old :( And, how long do those gumdrops usually last on that tree beacuse I have a feeling I'd take one every time I passed it.
