Mother's Day

Mother's Day began with my children sleeping in until 7:15am!! Yes, this is considered late in our household, and it was delightful to get to lay around in bed for a little before starting the day.

We had breakfast while enjoying the sights and smells of a beautiful bouquet of flowers that my daughters had sent to me (I think Daddy had something to do with this!).   Then Zoe presented me with multiple Mother's Day gifts that she had been working on, both in school and at home on her own.  All mommies know the hand-made gifts are the best kind!  Thank you sweet girl!

Next, we headed to the Botanical Gardens in Thousand Oaks where we did some walking through the woods and exploring the Kids Adventure Garden.

Then we had a lovely picnic under the shade of a tree, and finished off our park time with some photos.

Off and running, cheese in hand

We spent some time watching this cute little guy.

This was taken right before nap time which explains Maddie's grumpy face.

Photo taken by our budding photographer, Zoe.

While Maddie napped and Darryl and Zoe snuggled up for a movie, my mom and I went to the theater to see The Lucky One, a great chick flick based on a book that we both read.   Can't remember the last time we got to go to the movies together, but it was awesome!

Our day ended with Darryl making us a delicous steak on the grill which we enjoyed outside on the patio.  A perfect day spent with my family.  I'm so thankful to have a wonderful mother and to be the mommy of two wonderful little girls!
