Mother's Day
Mother's Day began with my children sleeping in until 7:15am!! Yes, this is considered late in our household, and it was delightful to get to lay around in bed for a little before starting the day.
We had breakfast while enjoying the sights and smells of a beautiful bouquet of flowers that my daughters had sent to me (I think Daddy had something to do with this!). Then Zoe presented me with multiple Mother's Day gifts that she had been working on, both in school and at home on her own. All mommies know the hand-made gifts are the best kind! Thank you sweet girl!
Next, we headed to the Botanical Gardens in Thousand Oaks where we did some walking through the woods and exploring the Kids Adventure Garden.
Then we had a lovely picnic under the shade of a tree, and finished off our park time with some photos.

This was taken right before nap time which explains Maddie's grumpy face.

While Maddie napped and Darryl and Zoe snuggled up for a movie, my mom and I went to the theater to see The Lucky One, a great chick flick based on a book that we both read. Can't remember the last time we got to go to the movies together, but it was awesome!
Our day ended with Darryl making us a delicous steak on the grill which we enjoyed outside on the patio. A perfect day spent with my family. I'm so thankful to have a wonderful mother and to be the mommy of two wonderful little girls!

Madelyn Turns 2 (part one)
Madelyn's birthday fell on a Thursday, so we did a mini-celebration on her actual birthday and then celebrated some more on Saturday.
When Maddie woke up, we all went into her room singing Happy Birthday. Her response was "prise you!" (translation: you surprised me). This is how the birthday girl looked first thing in the morning:

Nice hairdo!
We opened a few presents and cards before Daddy had to leave for work.

Cool puzzle from Grandma and Grandpa Martin and Aunt Danielle!
Then it was off to Gymboree for this birthday girl!
After picking Zoe up from school, we headed to the park to feed the ducks and geese, one of Madelyn's favorite things to do.

Then off to Wendy's for a birthday dinner and, of course, a Frosty treat!
I think it's safe to say that this little 2 year old had a great day!

Swimming
We were hoping the weather would warm up enough for us to hit the pool while my mom was here, and today was the perfect day. Madelyn is quite the little fish and loved splashing around with Mommy and Grandma!
